(Hong Kong, 13 May 2024) – The three-day Global Prosperity Summit 2024 (GPS 24), the first geopolitical conference to be hosted in Hong Kong, opened today with around 200 representatives from global business organisations, think tanks, academia, chambers of commerce and etc in attendance. The event, held by Global Prosperity Summit Hong Kong with support from the Savantas Policy Institute (SPI) and Shanghai Institutes for International Studies, commenced at The Fullerton Ocean Park Hotel Hong Kong with a welcome dinner officiated by Mr John Lee, the Chief Executive of the HKSAR, and Mr Cui Jianchun, Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the HKSAR.
Mrs Regina Ip, a founder of GPS 24 and Chairperson of SPI, delivered the welcome remarks. “We are greatly privileged and honoured that so many distinguished scholars, business leaders, prominent former officials, and experts have come from around the world to join us in a relaxing dinner before a hard-working day tomorrow, zeroing in on some of the most salient geopolitical issues impacting global development.”
Mrs Ip looks forward to the thematic panel discussions tomorrow (14 May), where experts from a variety of backgrounds and geographies will engage in in-depth exchange while striving to build common ground and foster international cooperation.
