On 26 September 2021, upon the invitation of The Federation of Hong Kong Electrical & Mechanical Industries Trade Unions, Mr Alex Wong, Policy Director of Savantas Policy Institute gave a presentation on “Development & Opportunities: Electrical and Mechanical industries in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA)”.

First, Mr Wong provided participants with an overview of the GBA by introducing the respective characteristics of the "Nine Cities and Two Districts". The development potential of each city was analyzed from perspectives such as economy, industry and people's livelihood. Mr Wong then cited the key development industries in the GBA. Using the huge demand for labour in the manufacturing industry as an example, he introduced a clearer path for participants to move northward. Mr Wong also gave an in-depth analysis of the system of mutual recognition of professional qualifications for engineering and technical personnel in the GBA, so as to provide a clearer vision for industry personnel who are interested in participating in the national policy. In the Q&A session, Mr Wong answered the questions of the participants, hoping that the participants can strive for more opportunities in our nation’s developmental scheme.
